This course is intended for IT professionals who administer IBM Storage Scale storage clusters that consist of Linux nodes. The course covers IBM Storage Scale features that enable remote and protocol-based access to data stored in a cluster file system. Topics include Storage Scale multi-cluster support, remote file system access, Active File Management (AFM), AFM-based Asynchronous Disaster Recovery (AFM DR), Cluster Export Services (CES), and CES protocol support for NFS, SMB, and S3 object access. These features are described in the lecture materials and implemented through hands-on lab exercises.
Students should already understand the basics of installing, configuring, and managing an IBM Storage Scale clustered file system. This prerequisite can be met by attending H005G - IBM Storage Scale Basic Administration for Linux and AIX.
Students should also be familiar with advanced IBM Storage Scale administration concepts and the tools used to install and configure IBM Storage Scale components. This prerequisite can be met by attending H006G - IBM Storage Scale Advanced Administration for Linux, or by having equivalent hands-on experience.
This lecture and exercise-based course is for individuals who want to configure a Storage Scale cluster to allow remote data access.
